Enlighten Up! Yoga Film

Take one skeptical yoga guinea pig (Nick Rosen) and send him around the world to learn about yoga, and you get what sounds like an interesting documentary. The film maker Kate Churchill is out to prove that yoga can transform anyone, sending Nick on a yoga exploration for 6 months. I like that Nick is a yoga beginner, and not someone who has any set expectations about what he will find. It looks like the film creates a good balance between yoga in the west and yoga in India, catching the yoga zeitgeist suspended between Lululemon and India’s sadhus…

The film is now showing in select cities in the US, and you can find out more at http://enlightenupthefilm.com. As of now it doesn’t look like they have any plans of coming to Seattle, but I would expect the film to be available on DVD sometime in the future. For now, here is the trailer:

The Enlighten Up! web site admin posted this announcement: We will be releasing “Enlighten Up!” in theaters across the US in March 2009, the DVD release will follow later that year, most likely October 2009.
